Can’t Miss Breakfast
If you’re going to go one place and eat one thing for breakfast it’s gotta be the Mitchell’s Mayhem at Kathy’s Kitchen.
Mitchell’s Mayhem (eggs over easy, bacon, shreds crispy)
What the best breakfast restaurant is may be up for debate if you ask a large enough group of people, but Kathy’s is our go-to spot. An added benefit is that it’s the closest to most, if not all, of our properties.
We love it not only because of the food, but because of the people. It’s family owned and operated with multiple generations working there. The faces, both staff and customer, are familiar. There’s tables of regulars who are there enough that they should put them on the payroll.
And then there’s the history. The location was once a Woolworth’s Lunch counter. The same lunch counters that were made famous by the 1960 sit-ins that originated in Greensboro, NC.
Expect a wait during peak times, especially on the weekend, but you won’t regret it.
Our reccommendations:
Mitchell’s Mayhem
Philly Cheesesteak Omelette (side of sour cream)
Loaded Shreds (extra crispy)
Here’s a list of some of the other local favorites:
Lantern Inn – Located less than a mile from Kathy’s. We also frequent here
B&G Grill – Downtown
Ashley’s Diner – William Street going north
Dee’s Diner – West Goldsboro on Hwy 70
